Animal Assisters FPS

Hi-ya it's Animal Assisters, we are here in Bunnell to help increase the amount of facilities and access to information that pet owners of Flagler County have.

We believe that since many pet owners may not have enough access to information and facilities for the benefit of their pets, how might we increase the amount of resources for pet owners so that animals are better taken care of in Flagler County, 2015 and beyond.

September 2015
  • In September we researched about animal shelters around Flagler County and the statistics of animals rescued and adopted.
October 2015
  • In October we researched more about animal shelters in and around Flagler County.
  • In October we called the humane society and asked a few questions about their shelter and statistics
  • In October we’ll have a food/supplies drive in which kids from Bunnell Elementary will be able to donate to the humane society, at the end the class with the most donations will receive a pizza party.
November 2015
  • In November we will run a drawing contest in which children of Bunnell Elementary will draw a picture of themselves and their pet at their dream pet park, we will draw some inspiration for the wadsworth dog park revamp from the contest.
December 2015
  • In December we will run a writing competition for the children of Bunnell Elementary with a 3 dollar entrance fee about what it's like to be adopted from the perspective of a shelter animal. The money will go towards helping fix the Wadsworth dog park. We will pick a winner from each grade and give them a pencil case stuffed full of goodies.
  • Around Christmas we will also have a fundraiser where kids can select which kinds of animals they have, pay around $10 depending on the amount of treats and we will give them a stocking full of treats for their pets.
January 2016
  • In January we will start a donation website in which people can donate money to help us fix the wadsworth dog park, we will also place donation boxes around our town for people to donate.
February 2016
  • In February we are going to set up stations run by us around our school that have treats and tips on how to love and take care of your pet since Valentine's day is in February.
March 2016
  • In March we will inform kids about other animals that live at the shelters such as hamsters, guinea pigs and pigs, since some people think only dogs and cats live at shelters and all animals living at a shelter need homes.
April 2016
  • In April we will host a day in which people will be invited to the Flagler Humane Society to learn about cats. We will create interactive and fun activities such as games and power points that will help people to learn more about cats and how to care for them at the same time encouraging people to adopt a cat of their own
May 2016
  • In May we will have a pet parade where pets will dress up their pets in the central park of palm coast and walk with their pet in a pet parade where they will be awarded various prizes for creativity, uniqueness and other things.
  • In May we will also finish fixing the wadsworth dog park with previously collected funds from fundraisers and donations and inspiration from previous contests. We plan on putting down new sod, doggie pool and other amenities for dogs. We will get budgeting tips from the Palm Coast government who is now in fact fixing another dog park.

In September we did research so that we could learn about local shelter animals, how we could support them and what services we could provide.
